Booking and Bail in California

Whether a person has been arrested for domestic violence, DUI, DWI or any other offense the process is the same. Persons taken into custody by the Bell Gardens Police or Sheriff's Department will be held at either the Bell Gardens Police Station Jail, Sheriff's Station Jail or will be transfered to the Los Angeles County Jail (IRC) and will be kept there until their first court date called the "Arraignment." Bail is allowed to be posted in any facility 24hrs a day, 7 days a week.

Before a bail bond is turned in and accepted, the arrestee must pass a background check through "Live Scan", which is a machine that is linked to a county, state and national database. That database will notify the authorities of any possible holds, warrants, or aliases that might prevent release or increase the total bail amount of an arrestee. Once the results of the Live Scan come back from the various government agencies, that person is then "cleared" to bond out. At this time, a jailor will review and accept a Bail Bond for an arrestee and release them on the Bail Bond.

From the time a Bail Bond is turned in, it takes between 30 minutes and 3 hours for a release depending on the facility where the person is being held. Release times do vary based on the workload of the Bell Gardens jail's staff as well as the type of facility. Once out, a person will need to complete his or her part of the paper work, take a picture, and make sure to show up to each and every court date thereafter.

Bell Gardens of Los Angeles County is home to an estimated 44,054 residents. Of those living in Bell Gardens, 8,509 are families with 9,466 households. Bell Gardens is most notable for being one of only five cities in Los Angeles that allows casino gambling. The history of the city dates back thousands of years, starting with Native American inhabitants. In the late 1700's, the city was a large agricultural center in California for the Spanish Empire and later for Mexico and the United States. Among early Spanish settlers was the Lugos family, who were stationed at the Mission San Antonio de Padua, where Francisco Lugo's son was born in 1783, Antonio Maria Lugo. By 1810, Antonio, who was serving in the Spanish Army, was given the Rancho San Antonio land grant as a reward for his military services. Antonio went on to build several adobe homes within the grant and raised cattle. One of the homes he built in 1795, is the oldest in Los Angeles County and is still standing today. Due to the rich soil and abundant land of Bell gardens, many Japanese immigrants play a large role in the histories cities, responsible for growing quality vegetable and rice. Due to the quality of the soil, Bell Gardens remained a farming community well into the 1930's. Although the area itself has a long and rich history, the city itself is fairly young, only officially becoming incorporated in 1961. Bell Gardens is also home to the largest poker casino in the world. The Bicycle Casino is a large casino and has been home to several poker tournaments including the Legends of Poker tournament and the Winnin' of the Green tournament.
